If you estimate she is about nine weeks from being in heat, you see movement in her heavy stomach, the time is close. Set up a quiet, dark place with towels and show it to her when it is ready and chances are she will use it.

∙ 14y agoMy cat gave birth a few years ago and this is what I remembered...
She wouldn't stop meowing and then there was this yellow-ish goo coming out of her vagina so I suppose that was probably the sac which had the kittens in it.

∙ 6y agoIf you don't hear the inseminating ruckus, then the tale tell signs include sagging around the nipple area, and sudden weight gain, much like human females. Closer to term, the cat may spend days testing out hiding spots, as in a day in each, just before her litter dumps themselves. It's a helluva sight, but bring mosquito repellent if you're south of the Mason Dixie. They'll carry you away with the smell of all that blood in the air.

Her nipples will get very big. This was how I knew my cat was having kittens. You can also go to a vet to make sure she is going to have kittens.

∙ 13y agoHer belly will probably look smaller than before and you would hear mewling. The kittens should be close to their mother nursing and the mother should be licking them. Also if you see blood or fluids in your house that is probably where she had given birth to the kittens.

∙ 12y agoJust prior to the mother cat giving birth she will be looking for a place to give birth. It is best to watch for this behavior. My mother cat did this just before she gave birth.
