A:

Yes. Like all other Christians, Catholics believe in The Bible, but for Catholics this is not enough. Tradition is perhaps equally as important as what the Bible says, on the assumption that tradition came about through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Protestant faiths stripped away much of this tradition as non-scriptural and, in some cases, unbiblical.

As well as heaven and hell, Catholics believe in purgatory and limbo, although limbo is gradually being removed from Catholic teachings. They believe that Mary was born without sin and that she remained a virgin all her life, not just before the birth of Jesus, and that she was taken up bodily to heaven although the Church is unclear whether she had already died at the time of the assumption. For some centuries now, there is a belief that Mary appears to young children or simple rural peasants to ask for some small favour such as the construction of a shrine.

Hagiology is an essential part of the Catholic faith. Saints are revered and can be prayed to for intercession, even when there is evidence that a particular saint never existed. To keep up the supply of saints, new saints are constantly being canonised, with two supposed miracles required to be recognised by the Church leadership.

Being a Catholic means recognising the leadership of the pope, who is the bishop of Rome. Since the First Vatican Council of 1869-70, the pope has been declared infallible when speaking ex cathedra on matters of faith or morals.

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. IF by Roman Catholic, you are referring to Latin Rite Catholics, okay, but then to whom would you like to compare them to?

What are the different beliefs between Christians and Catholics?

Roman Catholic AnswerThere are none, as Christians are Catholics and vice-versa. There are however some Christians who are not visible members of the Catholic Church. These are people who have received valid baptism and believe in the Nicene Creed in its traditional interpretation. Someone who has different beliefs from Catholicism is known as a heretic, although if they were raised knowing no better, then the heresy would only be formal; although they were raised believing that they were Christians.

Do Catholics believe the same thing that Christians do?

Christians and Catholics have very similar beliefs because Catholicism comes off of Christianity. But there is one main thing that keeps them different and separate; Catholics consecrate the Eucharist, Jesus Christ, during the Mass. Catholics receive Jesus in bread and wine form. The blood of Christ is the consecrated wine and Christ's body is the consecrated bread.Roman Catholic AnswerThat such a question could be asked is truly remarkable. Catholics ARE Christians. As a matter of fact they are the original Christians, and the only Christians for the first one thousand years until the heartbreaking split with the Orthodox.

Why did the religion Mahayana separate from the original religion Buddhism?

Do Catholics believe in the same things as Christians?

Somethings they do and somethings they don't. However the most important difference is about salvation. Catholics believe Jesus died so that we can earn our way to heaven by good works. Christians believe the Bible which says we are saved because God accepts the death of Jesus as a satisfactory payment for our sin. Catholics have other non-Biblical beliefs too, they put the traditions of the Catholic Church before God's word, they pray to saints, they believe Mary intercedes for them and many other non-Biblical beliefs.
