A LED clock features repetitive electronic signal known as oscillation. The signal that a LED clock emits comes from either a charge sent through a crystal oscillator, if the clock is running on batteries, or a power line, if the clock is plugged into a wall socket.

LED stands for "light-emitting diode." An LED creates light through the movement of electricity along the path of its semiconductor. As the electrons stream across the semiconductor, they create electromagnetic radiation. Some forms of this electromagnetic radiation can take the form of visible light, which humans can perceive via sight.

LED TV's are LCD TV's with an LED backlight. Whereas traditional LCD TV's are normally backlit by fluorescent bulbs, LED TV's are backlit by LED's. Some advantages of LED TV's include the ability of being able to locally dim some LED's to give deeper blacks (if not edge-lit); TV's with RGB LED's can locally change their color to enhance colors (also if not edge-lit); LED's are longer lasting than fluorescent bulbs; LED's are also more energy efficient than fluorescent bulbs.

The LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a low power electronic source of light that does not use a wire filament. The first LED's were manufactured n the 1970's and were only available in red. Subsequently green and yellow followed but blue light, needed for full colour displays, eluded scientists until the 1990's.

They were first used in wristwatches until LCD's took over because they required less power from the watch battery

The white LED appeared about 4 years ago and is made by coating a blue or UV LED with a mix of phosphors which alter the emitted frequencies to produce blue/white light.

Not good enough yet but I am sure a daylight white LED will soon be manufactured.

Because of its more efficient conversion of electric energy into light energy, the LED is replacing the use of incandescent and florescent light sources.

LED light is widely used in daily life. When crossing the intersection, you may see the led traffic lights which show you directions; When you decorate your room, you can use LED panel light[/url] to enlarge your room size from the point of view; when you attend large expo, LED light can give off light to make your goods beautiful; in a whole, LED light is deeply penetrated into our daily life.

The same way any incandescent bulb does. A thin wire is placed inside the glass bulb and electricity is run through it. The wire resists the flow of electricity and heats up. Hot metals glow and so does the wire, producing light.

The electric lights may be wired in series, and if one bulb burns out, the rest do not get electricity. However, the newer light sets use parallel wiring and each bulb will continue to receive power independently. Small bulbs use a transformer plug to reduce the voltage to the lights.

Bulbs that flash are made by installing a small switch in their bases that responds to heat. The bulb will stay on until the filament heats up, then go off until it cools and power flows again. This is why they blink more slowly in colder air.
