Step 1
Set the water bottle on the cardboard square and pour 1/4 cup baking soda into the bottle.
Step 2
Use the clay to create a volcano-shaped mound around the water bottle. Keep the structure on the cardboard square, and be sure to leave a hole at the top around the mouth of the water bottle.
Step 3
Add small tree structures or rivers and lakes if you want to make it look authentic.
Step 4
Add 1/4 cup vinegar to the mouth of the volcano. The baking soda and vinegar will have a chemical reaction, and the volcano will "erupt." Don't worry, it's not an explosion, just a stream of baking soda lava that will flow out of the top of the volcano.
Things You'll Need:Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) + vinegar (acetic acid) --> carbon dioxide + water + sodium ion + acetate ion (carbon dioxide gas)
- carbon dioxide tries to escape the container in the same way as if you would shake a soda can and open it.
1Collect together materials that you will need to make a model of a volcano: plastic bottle (no more than 1 litre in size), paper, card, paint or colours. Also bicarb of soda and vinegar red food colouing may also be useful to make it look like magma/lava
Then in the bottle add your bicarb soda and vinegar then run.
To make a better better explosion use cheap vinegar as it is often more acidic.
Dont know why it amkes a volcano though.
ok take your clay then use 1-2 a gallon of vinagar and 2 pounds of baking soda have a good time cleaning tha up!!! i recommend that you do it out side
If you put to much baking soda in it will explode and get a huge mess every where... wait thats not the question, you put 2 teaspoons in it!!
baking soda and vinegar put the baking soda in first
Because people put in baking soda, vinegar and red food coloring in the volcano. The baking soda and vinegar makes it explode
You measure the amount of baking soda put in he volcano
I'm thinking that if you try to put more baking soda (twice the baking soda or try the same with vinegar).
it doesnt really matterr that much... its going to go over the side anyway. the bigger the reaction you want, the more you put in.
First you put water, vinegar, food coloring, and baking soda
Put Mentos into the volcano that has Coke in it. You will get the desired effect and be more satified with the end result.
it doesn't really matter how much just put in the baking soda (as much as you want) then add the vinegar until it explodes, or boils over
Adding baking soda causes bubbling or effervescence.
paper mache and a funnel. and paint and paper towels
baking soda starts bubbling
If you are referring to your science project "fizzy volcano" then you will need a volcano structure made from cardboard, some vinegar or citric acid, some sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and some food colouring, probably red. Just put the vinegar in a cup inside the volcano, and then add some food colouring. When you are ready for your volcano to fizz and erupt just put in a tablespoon of baking soda and step back.
