In my experience it doesn't. If you have a PPO insurance, the dental office follows a fee schedule that the insurance company reimburses them up to after the patient pays their percentage. With a reduced-fee insurance, the dentist accepts the reduced fee as payment and is not reimbursed by the insurance company. So basically what you would have to do is see which one is cheaper for you. Usually, the PPO is going to be cheaper than the reduced fee but for some services it isn't (or if your yearly max has been met on the PPO you can then use the reduced-fee plan, this is the only real benefit of having both plans.)
