A micro Sd card is the best to use because Kingston makes a usb reader for micro SD cards. You plug the micro SD card into the USB reader then the USB reader is plugged into one of the USB ports on your laptop and will read it as an external drive.
If your talking about a micro SD card, yes. if your laptop doesn't had a SD card slot you may need a SD to USB adapter.
