gravity is what causes air pressure..just like it causes densitly of things and just like it has the pull on the earth, other planets, and all stars
The weight of the mass in its molecules, same as the cause of

It is the weight of the air itself that causes air pressure. Fluctuations occur due to changes in wind and temperature.

We live in air pressure of about 15 pounds per square inch.

Is air mass and air pressure the same thing?

No. An air mass is a section of the atmosphere with certain characteristics of temperature and humidity that distinguish it from nearby air masses. Air pressure is, in simple terms, how much the air is pressing down on the surface.

If the number of molecules in the atmosphere increased would the atmospheric pressure increase decrease or stay the same?

Air pressure is based on the density of molecules in the atmosphere. Density is mass divided by volume or D=M/V. By increasing the mass of air, the density increases. Decreasing volume also causes the density to increase. A high pressure zone means air has more mass per unit volume. A low pressure zone means the air has less mass per unit volume.

Weather is caused by variations in what three basic ingredients?

temperature, pressure, volume, and density temperature, pressure, volume, and density

How do you read isobars?

The isobars form layered rings on the weather map.The closer the layers of the rings are to eachother, the lower the air pressure in that area is. The further apart they are the higher the air pressure. The closer the isobars are, the stronger the wind is. The air pressure is also depicted by letters. In an area where the isobars show that it has a high pressure, a 'H' will be in the the centre circle. If there is low air pressure there will be an 'L'. Air pressure is the density of air molecules. High air pressure is heaps of air molecules close together. Low air pressure is when they are far apart. When the air pressure changes from high to low, wind is created.

What causes atmospheric pressure?

Amospheric pressure is caused by the weight of air molecules above it. As elevation increases, fewer air molecules are present. Therefore, atmospheric pressure always decreases with increasing height.

What caused density?

If there are more molecules in a given volume of air, the density is greater. If there are fewer molecule, the density decreases. Density=Mass/Volume

The pressure of a gas is caused by what?

collision of air molecules with the walls of the con tainer.

How does density change as air pressure increases?

If you have air in a tight cylinder piston system, when you apply pressure you will see the volume of the air reduced. The amount of mass of air is the same, but now it occupies less volume, the molecules are closer together, its density has increased.

Why is there no gas pressure inside a vacuum?

Gas pressure is caused by the molecules of gas striking the walls of a container, or in the case of Earth's atmosphere, the molecules of air hitting the earth. In a vacuum, there are no gas molecules. No molecules, no pressure.

Does air have density and pressure?

Air has both density and pressure.

What is caused by the collisions of air molecules around you that produces the force of an area?

atmospheric pressure

How does the density of the air affect pressure?

Pressure affects the density of air by increase of pressure increases the density

How do molecules change the air pressure as you move away from the earths surface?

their density decreases as you go up

How does altitude affect density and air pressure?

Altitude has a large affect on the air pressure and air density. Air density reduces with altitude and air pressure reduces with altitude as well.
