Best Answer

Possums walk and they are also very adept climbers.

Gliders are in the possum family (not to be confused with opossums), and the six species of gliders are able to glide from tree top to lower points, extending the membranes which they have from wrists to ankles in order to catch air currents.

Possums in Australia usually walk, and they are adept at climbing. There are six species of possums known as "gliders", and these creatures can glide between high points, by stretching out their forelegs and hind legs and extending a flap of skin.

Brushtail possums move along on all fours, gripping tree branches, poles and even telephone and electrical cables with their sharp claws. On narrow conveyances, such as cables, they hang upside down, gripping the wires as they run along.

Opossums mainly hunt at night and love baby chicks, and chicken eggs. They are not picky eaters and will eat almost anything, including table scraps, cat food, and dog food.

On the ground, it walks. There is a possum lives near here who regularly walks over a railway bridge to get to a tree he likes, then walks back at night to another tree to sleep.
