I work for ATT and you must leave the data plan. IF you deleted the data plan, the phone will not work. Hope this helps

Sure, I bought a LG VU the other day and didn't sign a contract. As long as you have a working phone number on a GSM system the phone you buy will work. T-mobil and ATT phones will cross. You do want to make sure the phone is GSM and unlocked. You will pay more for the non contract phone. Th eLG VU is $49.00 with and $249.00 without.
