∙ 8y agoA major purpose of using an integrated Circuit (IC) is to compress a large electronic circuit into a very small space and to make it available at a very low price compared to what it would cost to supply a similar circuit built from many separate discrete components.
Other reasons for using ICs is that the circuits built onto them can run much faster and can consume a lot less power than conventional circuits built from many separate discrete components.
