How does mold grow on cheese and why?

Cheese grows mold because microscopic spores land on the cheese. How do they get there? Other mold colonies shoot spores into the air and they latch on to items. These may consist of food and hosts. There are at least one hundred dangerous types of molds that relese mycotoxins.
