The Shutter Speed. If the shutter speed is positioned at 2000 you'll have a very quick exposure, this is best used if its very bright outside.

If the shutter speed is at 75, you'll have a very long exposure, best used if its cloudy or dark.

In taking a picture, all cameras control the amount of light allowed into the camera to expose the film, or, with digital cameras, make an imprint on a light sensor. SLR or DSLR cameras allow you to control the exposure of the film or sensor with controls like the Aperture and Shutter Speed (the size of the opening and how long it is open, respectively).

On a film camera they always use a shutter, which has a timing mechanism of some sort. On a digital camera they can either use a mechanical shutter, or the computer in the camera can be set to capture signal from the sensor for a certain length of time.

What two parts of a camera controls the amount of light reaching the film?

The Shutter and the Aperture are the two controls the Shutter is used to control how long the Film is exposed for and Aperture is used to control how much light is let in

What two variables on a camera control the exposure of the film?

shutter speed and lens aperture

What part of the camera provides the selection of shutter speeds?

If the camera has a "shutter priority mode", usually called "S mode", then the shutter speed is controlled directly by the user when the camera is in this mode, by moving a dial or pressing a button (or both). If the camera has a "manual" mode, usually called "M mode", then the shutter speed and aperture are both controlled directly by the user by moving dials or pressing buttons (or both). Some cameras have automatic modes which allow the user to control the minimum and maximum shutter speeds that will be selected by the camera when considering all other factors. If the minimum shutter speed is reached, the camera will increase the ISO or aperture size to compensate for under-exposure. If the maximum shutter speed is reached, the camera will decrease the ISO or aperture size to compensate for over-exposure.

What is camera aperture?

The hole in the shutter allowing light into the camera.

What is the shutter speed of the polaroid i1036?

All cameras have multiple shutter speeds and depending the mode your camera is (Manual, Auto, etc...) the camera will choose what shutter speed it thinks will be appropriate for the picture. And most cameras will also not tell you the shutter speed you used, while some will.

What are 3 things that controls exposure?

Shutter speed, aperture, and ISO are the three main factors that control exposure in photography. Shutter speed determines how long the sensor is exposed to light, aperture controls the amount of light entering the camera, and ISO adjusts the camera's sensitivity to light.

Which camera mode do you use if you want to control motion blur?

Shutter priority.

What is the puptoose of a camera shutter?

A camera shutter is a piece of equipment that is used on cameras to let light pass for a determined amount of time, therefore enhancing the quality of the pictures taken.

What is aperture priority in photography?

Aperture priority lets you set the aperture you want and the camera sets the shutter speed for you. You use it when you want to control depth of field. Shutter priority lets you set the shutter speed you want and the camera sets the aperture for you. You use it when you want to control how motion is rendered in the photograph. Program mode sets both shutter speed and aperture for you. Use it when you are not concerned with aperture or shutter speed control.

When you add camera lens does the shutter go faster?

When you add a camera lens to a camera, it does not make the shutter go faster. If the camera has a manual way to adjust the shutter speed, that is how it changes.

What shutter speed will allow the least amount of light into the camera?

The highest shutter speed available to you will give you the darkest exposure, while the lowest shutter speed available will give you the brightest exposure

Why is a shutter in a camera called a shield?

its not its called a shutter

What else do aperture and shutter speed control?

Aperture and shutter speed control the amount of light that passes from the lens to the film or digital sensor of a camera. Aperture is the size of the opening within the lens. The lower the f-stop number (1.4 for example) the larger the opening and the more light is passed through. Shutter speed is closely related. It is the amount of time that the lens is open. The combination of the size of the opening in the lens and the amount of time that the lens is open determine the exposure.

Fast shutter speed?

A fast shutter speed on a camera allows it to take good quality pictures in bright areas, such as outside on a very sunny day. The fast shutter speed prevents more light from entering the camera lens.
