When the humidity in the surrounding air is low, the water in the wet cloth wrapped around the bulb of the "wet bulb" thermometer evaporates quicker, giving lower reading on that thermoneter, thus widening the gap between the wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures. The lower the humidity in the air, the quicker the evaporation, the lower the "wet bulb temperature".

The wet bulb thermometer is reading the temperature of the wet material around the bulb not the air temperare> Assume the air temperature and liquid on the wet bulb start out the same. As the wet bulb is exposed to the air some of the liquid evaportates (assuming the humidity is not 100%). Evaporation happens when energetic molecules leave a liquid. Reducing the number of energetic molecules in a liquid lowers the average energy in the rest of the liquid. A lower average energy corresponds to a lower temperature. As consequence the temperature of the wet bulb falls. The temperature does not fall continuously. At some point heat coming in from the air balances the heat leaving with the evaporating liquid. This is the wet bulb temperature and it can be equated to the humidity of the air.

difference between dry bulb temperature and wet bulb temperature which is usually different from each other...like WBT is always less than DBT!!

But at 100% relative humidity both are same!!..
