It can heat the earth and it uses the earth's orbit to do it. It also gives the right amount of warmth to the earth in the places that the earth needs a lot of warmth and the places the earth needs less amount of warmth.

the energy recieved from the sun is used to warm up the earth....all of it...not just the parts that need it! it depends on the orbit

Almost entirely by electromagnetic radiation, ignoring gravity's tidal effects (which are measurable, but small by comparison.)

Transferring thermal energy can be done by 3 basic physical processes: conduction, convection, and radiation.

Heat conduction occurs when two or more solid objects with different temperatures are touching each other. The energy flows from the object of higher temperature to the object of lower temperature. Since the Sun is not touching any planet, and can hardly be considered solid, conduction cannot be the answer to your question.

Convection is a special case of conduction. The energy transfer takes place between fluid bodies - those which are able to flow - unlike solids. Our household ovens work on convection. We have an intuitive feeling for convection. Hot air rises as cooler air sinks to displace it, and cookies are just a little bit better than cookie dough.

Radiation is a thermal energy transfer mechanism that does not require physical contact. Electromagnetic radiation (light in all its various forms, visible and invisible) can travel through the void and vacuum of space. And so Earth receives practically all Sun-sourced energy by way of Sun's light, particularly infrared light.

It's not a matter to be taken "lite"-ly.
Energy from the sun is transferred by radiation. Mainly through electromagnetic wavelengths.

About half of this radiation is visible light and less than ten percent is ultraviolet radiation. Some of this radiation is lost because it is absorbed in the stratosphere by "good" ozone. Energy that hits the surface of the earth moves around in the atmosphere due to convection currents. The heat from the ground warms the air above it.
Through Radiation. The particles radiate through space and reach Earth in about 8 minutes.

If you mean the energy that it uses to revolve around the sun, then due to Newton's First Law, the earth continues to move because of inertia. The original source of energy was initiated when the universe was created.
