The higher the viscosity, the slower the rate of diffusion. Think of a liquid trying to diffuse through a plate of water (low viscosity) versus a liquid trying to diffuse through a plate of agar (high viscosity)

Imagine when molecules are with a high viscosty.

Their body surfaces will be very sticky enough to attract a majority of the surrounding molecules. However, when the surfaces are less sticky, less foreign particles attracted on to its surfaces. When molecules are surrounded by less foreign molecules, they will move faster across a fixed volume per unit of time. Therefore, the lower their viscosity is, the shorter they take to get through a certain volume of the medium they are in. This results in a greater rate of diffusion per unit volume and time ( MORE RAPID diffusion maintained!).

Objects/substances that are higher in density take longer to diffuse than objects/substances with lower density. For example honey in water, or alcohol in water, alcohol is less dense than honey and therefore it diffuses quickly into the water.

Rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to the density of gas or liquid and is directly proportional to the temperature. A more dense liquid or gas will diffuse slowly. When the temperature rises, the energy of molecules increases and they move faster so diffusion is faster.
