It can change completely to it's surroundings mostly leaves and is famous foe being 'the unseen insect'. However, while stick insects are masters of disguise, they cannot change colour at will. A stick insect can be a different colour to another of the same species due to being in a different environment, having a slightly different diet and some species will slowly change colour when moulting, but they can not change colour like a chameleon can.

∙ 7y agoThe walking stick does not change color. Different genes make it different colors. In some areas more brown walking sticks survive. In other areas, more green walking stick insects survive.
