There are many ways a computer can get pop up ads. The best way to stop them is with a simple pop up blocker which internet explore, fire fox and most the rest have installed. If you have this pop up blocker turned on and you are still getting pop ups you may have unknowingly let a Trojan virus in to your system. This means you may have a hacker observing what you are doing on your computer and sending pop ups to you related to your interests. And when you click on these pop ups the hacker makes money from the advertiser. This is their incentive to invade your computer. ∙ 10y agoWell it all depends from what website the pop-up is coming from. In most cases it can slow your computer. And some if your on untreated websites can give viruses and cause your computer to become infected with viruses that can eventually slow and crash your computer. So when there is a pop-up I recommend either closing it or getting a pop-up blocker.
