You do not need to take a contraceptive gel while on birth control. There is still a 5% risk of being pregnant while on the pill because it is not 100% effective at preventing pregnancy.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the previous answer!!! Better safe than sorry when it comes to pregnancy prevention. Many women use spermacides or condoms with the pill, just in case. The cyclic pills tend to have lower dosages than other oral contraceptives, so it IS a good idea to use other contraceptive methods, especially if you've ever gotten pregnant on the pill. The risk of pregnancy when taking the combination pill is 3%, in actual practice. Spermicides are actually less effective than the pill, however; your pill may not be the most effective for your body chemistry. But the answer to your question is less than 3%.

If you remember to take the pill, it'll be effective. But if you're sick with a fever or anything else, the pill may not be as effective, and possibly, it won't work anymore. But there are many other options!

... seriously? that's kind of a stupid question. if you're on depo then that's already like around 90 percent effective, I'm sure it's higher.

And i don't know how you're going to get pregnant if you're using a condom. Unless there is holes in it or it breaks.

So, no.
Well, there is usually always some sort of chance that you can get pregnant if you are having sex. Abstinence is the only 100% for sure way that you will not be able to get pregnant.

Pills are more effective at preventing pregnancy than the condom is, but the condom can offer prevention of disease, and the pill can't. That's why using both together is the best option -- it maximized both pregnancy prevention and disease prevention.
They are most effective together. No temporary Birth Control is 100% effective, but to answer the original question, the pill is more effective than a condom.

Birth control pills are quite effective for preventing pregnacy, however NOTHING but total abstinence can prevent std's. Condoms help, but there are no guarantees!!

Because you took your non active pills instead of the active pills this has basically interfered with birth control protecting you against pregnancy and has also messed up your cycle. You must ALWAYS take birth control as prescribed. You need to use a condom for the next 4 weeks to prevent pregnancy and take your birth control as normal.
