A lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) typically commands a battalion or serves in a staff role at a higher level, such as a regiment or higher headquarters. They are responsible for leading and managing their unit, planning and executing missions, training and developing Marines, and ensuring operational readiness. Additionally, they may also be involved in advising senior leaders and making strategic decisions.
Pearl Harbor as well as all other Navy bases have Marines assigned to them. The Infantry forces of both the US Army and the USMC have weapons which they can use against aircraft.
While the U.S. Marine Corps is much harder to be accepted into than the U.S. Army; it is a completely separate branch of the military. The SAS are trained specifically for Special Operations, while the USMC has several specialist branches within it (i.e. there are USMC fighter pilots, while the SAS only has infantry personnel) Therefore, to compare the whole USMC to the Elite Special Forces of the British Army is rather unreasonable. While the USMC basic training lasts 12 weeks; just to nominate for SAS selection, candidates need to have passed the 14 week basic training for the British Army. SAS candidates must undertake a selection process of 19 weeks that tests their teamwork and fieldcraft knowledge. Therefore, in terms of training and skill, SAS is much better equipped than the USMC. Once again, to compare SAS and USMC is unreasonable, as the SAS is a select special forces element much like the Navy SEALS. Hope this helps :)
In the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the M16A2 assault rifle is currently being phased out in favor of the M16A4, which allows for easier attachment of optics and accessories. The M4 carbine instead replaces the M9 handgun for officers, and the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle is being adopted to replace the M249 LMG.

The USAF, USN, and USMC. The US Army does NOT have fixed-wing jet aircraft anymore; that DoD ruling took effect in 1964. USMC jet fighter pilots are trained/funded by the USN.
no, Recon also the USMC has Force Recon... The Marines special operations are classified under MARSOC and have rigorous training for the Marines you have to first be in an infantry unit for four years then reenlist and go through sometimes it takes two years of training so six years total. plus RECON are the elite of the elite. Navy isn't elite only seals are elite and all Marines are elite but RECON is the tougher group. SEALS are still tough just not like RECON, different training. USMC Carlos Hathcock, Recon sniper has 93 confirmed kills. CHESTY Puller USMC awarded four navy crosses for bravery second highest under medal of honor and he had four of them. USMC John Basilone held off 3,000 enemy troops with their own machine gun with one other Marine whom was killed in the battle of Guadalcanal during the second world war and then single handedly hacked up three enemies with his jungle machete and for this was awarded the Medal of honor. but respect both.
