How far should food be stored above ground?
If you are talking about foodservice requirements and are wondering how far off the floor food should be stored, regulators are generally looking at 6-8 inches. The main purpose of that is so the floor can be easily cleaned and observed and will protect the food from moisture damage due to being held against the floor. If you are talking about an outdoor camping situation, a recommendation is to hang food 10-15 feet above ground or high enough that a standing bear could not reach it. If you are talking about elevations - like mountain tops or sea level - there is no recommendation.

How is Floor Area Ratio calculated in Chicago's Zoning Ordinance?
Take the lot size and multiply it by the Floor Area Ratio. For example, on a 5,000 square foot lot with a 2.0 FAR you could construct a building with 10,000 square feet of total floor area (the floorspace of each floor above ground added together). Keep in mind that there are other restrictions as well, such as building height and setback issues that could keep you from using the total allowable building area per your FAR.
