How far away is far far far away?

There is no precise definition of "far away". The concept of distance becomes personalized in different situations. As some examples:

• Most young children cannot judge how far something is away nor time. When I was little, going to my great-grandmother's house seemed terribly long. We traveled on 2-lane roads through endless, indistinct forests. There was nothing interesting to see, and very little traffic. It seemed to take many hours! But in fact, it took 30 minutes. I would have sworn it was indeed far, far, far away.
• If you must walk, you perceive distance differently. It took me 20 minutes to walk 1/4 of a mile up a steep hill in my hometown. When I got my first car, that 1/4th mile was nothing--over in seconds.
• Traveling 300 miles walking (like pioneers in the New World / US did would seem much longer to walk than to drive, now. Driving across a State can seem endless (about 8 hours across Pennsylvania), but in flight, it's only a few hours including boarding the plane.

We all read Fairy Tales in which the first line might have been, "Far away in a land called...." Our imaginations filled in the details of "how far away". Perhaps my imagination took me beyond the woods behind my house... while your imagination took you off into outer space...

This depends on your perspective. "Far far away" for an ant is a mile. A mile for you may not be that far away.
