an Electra Model l0 E had an operational limit- velocity never exceed ( Red Line- on the speedometer) of 2l0 MPH. this was beyond the normal cruise speed of about l85 on long fllghts for fuel-management reasons- there are no pit-stops mid-ocean so some economizing would be mandated. They took different routes. the Lindbergh flight was , as required by the rules for the Ortieg prize ( Ortieg was a hotelier- NOT a newspaper magnate as some have suggested) required a New York-Paris flight route. This took a minimum of 32 hours as has been discussed before. Earhart"s first oceanic flight covered a much shorter distance from a part of Canada to I believe Wales- and only consumed 20 Hrs. 30 Minutes the title of her book. The Lindbergh flight was solo- one man. the Earhart l928 flight involved a crew of three with Amelia as a forward observer.
