Is Yu-Gi-Oh good

There are many pros and cons to Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game (TCG). While it's impossible for me to express all of them, here are some things to take note of:

• With the vast numbers of different Yu-Gi-Oh cards, your deck options are limitless. In most cases creativity can flourish, however, like any other game, there will always be the cookie-cutter/ staple decks that have a higher chance of victory.
• With so many different cards and effects, there is no escaping the fact that a lot of duelists will not use the effects of cards correctly. Some words in a card's effect can be overlooked and/ or deceive someone; some people happen to completely ignore the drawbacks of certain cards by not reading the last sentence; etc. It is not necessarily that person's fault for thinking they were right. There are some underlining rules and restrictions on cards that aren't listed on cards, but there are a variety of resources to check how certain cards really work. And getting to know the basic, fundamental rules are not very difficult save a few less relevant ones.
• Like any game there are some learning curves to conquer. Using, knowing, and playing with as many different cards and decks as possible is key to this. The easiest way is to buy a Yu-Gi-Oh video game based on the actual game play; as opposed to some of the first ones to be released that all but abandoned the rules. This also compensates for learning how cards work since the games follow the proper effects of all the cards. The latest World Championship games for the DS even have a tutorial and a few individual card rulings.
• Now a days, it's best to try to keep up with some of the latest cards if you plan on dueling others who use them. This is important for understanding how card effects work ahead of time, knowing what to expect, and acquiring some of these cards for yourself. It can be somewhat burdensome, but if your willing and able to put in a little money to buy maybe one or two of latest booster packs or a structure deck (pre-built deck) once in awhile, you will be a lot better off. Like any TCG, you will have to invest some money into buying packs to find the right card(s) and duplicates of any ones you desire.
• If you really want to get the most out of your playing, you need some honest friends to play with. Some play the game foregoing the rules and playing just for kicks. If you are seeking more serious game play, card shops and game stores sometimes have tournaments and/ or regular gameplay.
