THe EGR valve is located back by the firewall and is difficult to access but not as bad as many cars so it is a DIY do-able job. I know a dealer charges around $300 to do this job.

Enucleation is the removal of the eye, leaving the muscles and other eye socket contents intact. Extenteration is the removal of the eye, taking eveything in the eye socket with it. Not asked, but answered for completeness sake; evisceration is the removal of the eye's contents, leaving the shell behind - this is sometimes done to reduce pain in a blind eye.
According to the owners manual the Blind Spot Information System gives you a warning if there is a vehicle in your " blind spot " ( Does not replace shoulder checking and the use of your side mirrors )

They can be done on your own - IF you have the knowledge of how to do it. If you're going in blind, a Euro car is not the place to learn as you go.
From what i understand, HID kits are illegal unless you have a projector installed on your car so it controls the light output of the HID's. Projectors spread the light evenly and have a cut off point which don't blind on coming drivers. Don't just install the hid kit, replace your headlights with projects =)
The majority of legally blind people's eyes can detect light from dark but not enough to be able to 'see' in a practical sense, so the answer for those is yes. For the remainder, accidents that have so badly injured the eyes and/or optic nerves, or diseases that have necessitated their removal, the answer is no.
