we build them faster now , we added frets compared to what was in the 50s , different woods for different sounds, we have computers on them to tune them, different electronics to different hardware. Some added more than 6 strings , some have whammy bars we have more options than ever.
I find Guitars today stay in tune longer , sound is very debatable, they can do more and thats without even getting into amplifiers and processors, we came a long way from just a volume knob or the bass, treble and mid knobs before overdrive (distortion) was created.
