How have ideas about women's sexuality changed?

It's often said that in the period from about 1840 (or ealier) till about 1970 respectable women weren't supposed to enjoy sex. (There are some indications that this view is slightly exaggerated). In the late 1960s and in the 1970s there were angry debates in the media in some countries about whether or not there even was such a thing as a female orgasm. By contrast, it's now very widely accepted that women can and should enjoy sex, that they can orgasm and so on.
