How do you know if Calhoun Elementary School goes back to school?
If school has been out due to weather or another emergency, each day school is closed will appear on local television stations. When they are no longer being shown, you can assume school is open. If school is out from a break, the day you go back to school will be on your school calendar or the school's website.
It is against the law to follow an emergency vehicle?
Yes if you are just following it to see where it is going. It is however not illegal to be going in the same direction as an emergency vehicle as long as you stay 500 feet back. If the emergency vehicle is not using its emergency lights or sirens, and is not stopped at an emergency scene, you can treat it like a regular vehicle and follow it as would be legal for any other vehicle.

Why does the pupil of your eye go red when in a photograph?
The pupil of the eye appears red in some photographs because the light from the camera flash reflects off of the retina at the back of the eye. The light reflects red because of the blood vessels at the back of the eye. This light sometimes comes back out of the pupil and shines through the lenses of the camera. This can be prevented with a red-eye reduction feature of the camera. This will give a couple warning flashes before the picture is taken, causing the pupil opening to narrow and thus reducing the chances of light reflecting back out of the eye.

Do emergency Lights have to be on all the time?
No. Emergency lights are designed to turn ON when there is a power loss or outage either from their back up battery or from an emergency generator. In buildings which do not have back up emergency generators, (which most are) emergency lights require power supplied to them 24/7 to keep their batteries charged.

Is iris at the back of the eye?
The iris is not at the back of the eye. The structure at the back of the eye (on the inside) is called the retina. That's the part that senses light. The iris is a structure at the front of the eye, consisting of a ring of muscle with an opening in the center, called a pupil. The iris can shrink the pupil, to admit less light, or expand the pupil to a larger size to admit more light. Eye color is deterimned by the iris. It is the only colorful muscle.

Would you be able to go back to regular school if you're at alternative school?
The best thing to do is to gather information about the schools in your area. If your alternative school is accredited and your learning needs are appropriate, you should be successful at making the change. However, you should examine the difference in environment between the two and make sure it is something you can stick with. For instance, students who drop out and a few years later want to go back to regular school often find that their maturity makes sitting in a classroom and following a schedule difficult.

Why does the dr. dilate my eyes during an eye examination?
Asked in Eyes
Why is the pupil a circle?
The pupil is a hole surrounded by the iris which is the colored part of your eye. The pupil gets bigger and smaller because the iris expands or contracts to let more or less light in so you can see better. Have you ever noticed red-eye taken in a photo with flash. Well it is actually the light from the flash bouncing off of the back of your eye, if the pupil was a solid black dot it would not show the reflection coming out

What does a pupil do in the eye?
The pupil is the dark circle at the center of your eye. It is surrounded by the iris, which is the colored part of your eye. The pupil allows light to enter the eye. Light enters through the pupil, passes through the lens, and is focused onto the retina. The retina is the back part of the eye that has the receptors that interpret what you see. For clear vision, the eye requires the proper intensity of light. The pupil's purpose is to change shape to control the amount of light that enters the eye. Since the pupil is an opening, the work is actually done by the Iris, which has muscles that are used to change the opening of the pupil. In low light conditions, your pupil will be larger to let more light in. On a sunny day, the pupil will be small. The nervous system also controls the size of the pupil during periods of fear or excitement. The term "bedroom eyes" refers to a romantic partner being excited to see you, and their pupils become larger.
