Horses graze down grasses which makes room for new plant growth. They also will dig for water allowing other animals access to these 'water holes' to drink in the summer or during droughts. They also provide manure to fertilize the ground and are a food source for predators.

Horses are valuable animals to the environment as they help spread grass seed in their manure, which also fertilizes the ground as they move. They will also dig for water in areas where water may be under ground, thus opening up drinking holes for other animals that may not dig for water.
