There are many views about Jesus. Here are some of them:

  • Most Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God, and is one with God, as the second person of the Holy Trinity
  • A minority of Christians say that he was the Son of God, but reject the notion of the Holy Trinity
  • Some Christians accept that Jesus did not really perform all the miracles attributed to him
  • Muslims think that Jesus was a great prophet who was given the power to perform miracles, but that he was not the Son of God
  • Jews believe that Jesus was a great preacher but not divine, nor even a prophet
  • Many others believe that Jesus was a wandering preacher, whose story grew in the telling, until the gospels presented him as someone he was not
  • Some doubt whether Jesus ever existed as a real, historical person
  • Some see Jesus as the Teacher of Righteousness spoken of in the Dead Sea Scrolls. They believe that the Teacher of Righteousness lived more than a hundred years BCE, and that the story of Jesus of Nazareth grew out of this legend.

A:

Christians, of course, view Jesus as the Saviour and son of God. Jews generally see him as a great teacher; Muslims see him as one of the greatest prophets. This accounts for perhaps around half the world's population.

Members of other faiths, view Jesus with respect. In my experience, truly polytheistic religions accept that there are foreign gods which do not form part of their pantheon, and therefore can accept Jesus as in some way divine, but of no concern to them because he is not one of their gods.
