A pro is if you're a shy person email can make it easier for you to talk to somebody. Another is if you are far away from somebody, you can still communicate with them without wasting your cell phone minutes.
A con is that in emails it is easier for your message to get taken the wrong way from what you were trying to say. Another is with email you lose the underlying things that people do while talking, such as facial expressions, tone, and hand or body movements. Also Email is much more impersonal.
