persons with a genetic predisposition to goutyarthritis or perhaps a problem with the kidneys can end up suffering from gout. No, it is caused by an excess amount of uric acid in the bloodstream, causing crystals of uric acid to form in the cartilage of joints and tendons. It is not pathogenic, and cannot be passed from person to person.
