=The piano is an instrument that can be used to play many genres of music, classical, pop, etc. You play the piano by using the weight of you arm to hit keys which activate hammers that hit strings. The sound travels via vibrations down the stings, which is amplified to make a sound.==If you would like to know more more about this topic send me a message on my message board,==I am a proffessional pianist.=

There are two ways:

  1. One person plays on a higher octave, and the other plays on a lower octave.
  2. (This one isn't as common) There are two pianos, one for each person.

Piano is played by pressing keys that correspond to specific notes. White notes are for C, D, E, F, G, A, B or Dó, Ré, Mi, Fá, Sol, Lá, Si, and black notes are for C#, D#, F#, G#, A# or Dó#, Ré#, Fá#, Sol#, Lá# (or flats). The first note on a grand piano is the A, and after that octaves repeat themselves. Grand and upright pianos usually have 88 keys, starting with the A. Then there's a very commonly used pedal (sustain pedal, which is the one at the right) that allows notes to keep sounding even after the pianist is not pressing the keys.

That's how to play the piano very shortly said. But if you want to play well the piano, then it's important to know how to read music sheets, and have good Music Theory understanding.
