They don't. The lava, which is called magma when it is underground, forms from rocks melting underground either as extra hot mantle material rises or as the melting point in the upper mantle falls.

No one knows for sure. It maybe that God created the volcanoes to form new islands where life can thrive to exist from the ocean floor.

Its like the same as asking, "why was the starts created"? Only the Almighty Creator, Jehovah knows the exact reason.

Many mountains were created by volcanoes, but many mountains were formed in other ways. The Himalayas are being pushed up like a train wreck. You can find seashells up above 5,000 metres.
