What ever the date on the can say's,
or if no date about 1 year
Plan on using them by the next harvest.
Home canned goods can be safely kept until the lid starts to rust or the seal is broken, but really should be used before the next harvest. Commercially canned stuff usually carries a best-by date. I wouldn't use it much past 6 months later.
Perhaps the tomatoes were no good. Perhaps you took too long to heat up the soup or reheated at too low a temperature.
Depending how you process it, berries will remain good from 6 months to idefinately.
To be ultra safe, stick to three days.
it means the tomatos are gone ofNot necessarily true. According to the Penn State Extension office:Seed Discoloration - Canned TomatoesA consumer brought in a jar of home canned tomatoes to the office (canned last year). Some, but not all of the seeds have turned black. Is there any danger in using these tomatoes? ANSWER - If the seeds began to discolor during storage, it is probably not a sign of spoilage as long as the product was processed correctly and a vacuum, indicating a tight seal, has been maintained. It may be a reaction of harmless polyphenol compounds in the seeds with iron or other minerals in the water.http://extension.psu.edu/food-safety/food-preservation/faq/seed-discoloration-canned-tomatoesAccessed January 25, 2013.
For home canned foods, figure on one year for the best quality. That should take you from harvest to harvest. Make sure the goods are properly stored - cool, dry and no sunlight:
Canned soda comes in regular and diet. The regular canned soda has about a nine month shelf life from the date it was made. Canned diet soda is good for about 3 to 4 months.
Fresh tomatoes might last a week. Home canned - about a year. Commercially canned - several years.
Well, it depends on the condition of the tomato. Fresh tomatoes will start to deteriorate a few days after being left on a shelf. Make sure the lid on a canned tomato is completely sealed. Tomatoes are perishable. That is, their lifespan is short and they will parish very quickly. Store them in a cool place with no humidity, and they will last longer.
Canned salmon is high in protein, and the soft bones in it are high in calcium. Fish contains omega fatty oils, which are good for the heart. However, it should be eaten in moderation. That's because the high sodium content (typical of most canned foods) promotes high blood pressure. Also, some fish contain unacceptably high levels of mercury. It's a good idea not to eatCanned Salmon more than one or twice a week, and pregnant women should avoid it completely. Canned foods are not necessarily bad for you if they are packed in natural juices and are not high in sugar and salt. For example, canned tomatoes are often higher in quality than the fresh ones in grocery stores. This is because tomatoes grown for canning are allowed to ripen fully and are packed soon after harvest, whereasshop tomatoes are picked too early, while they're still hard, so that they will survive long journeys by truck with minimal damage.
It depends. some last for a year, and some last for a few months.
That's a long time to have left tomato sauce in a pot. Whether it is safe or not depends on the type of pot and the conditions under which it was stored, as well as whether or not it grew anything in that time frame. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
