∙ 15y agoA drug can be made by companies other than the initial manufacturer and then becomes generic when the initial patent runs out. This is 20 years from the time of invention. After this time, other companies can begin to make the drug and sell it.

They say (I still don't know who they are ) that the only difference between the two is this : Name Brand drug hold a patent on said drugs , Once that runs out Company's are able to make the same drug but can not use the same name that is why you always see generic for on the bottle.
