There is no specific academic requirement for being a dj. If you do go to college it would because there are things that you want to learn. When you have learned what you want to learn, you can then proceed with your career. There is no set amount of time for doing this, and indeed, many successful musicians or dj's have not been formally educated.

As well as this you should have some background training as unless you have a spectacular gift for dancing, it can be very hard to pick up. Previous training is especially needed for Ballet as this is probably the hardest dance there is (it is in my opinion) and it would be impossible to become a professional in three years.
