The average lifespan of someone in the 1500's was between 45 and 69 years depending on social class. The nobility lived longer because of better care and living conditions while the poor didn't have access to the same resources.

It's currently 2009, so let's look at historical people who died in in 1509. These people were wealthy and wealthier people tend to live longer (which is a subject for another question). Henry VII of England was 52. His wife Lady Beaufort was 66. Chinese painter Shen Zhou was 82. Portuguese explorer Joao da Nova was 49.

On average human males lived about 45 years 500 years ago. A woman at that time probably only lived an average of 30 to 35 years.
