The name of the first heavier-than-aircraft was the 1903 Wright Flyer. The plane was designed and built by Orville and Wilbur Wright. The engine was designed and built by Charles E. Taylor. The aircraft is on display in the Smithsonian Museum of Flight in Washington DC.
