If the puppies are with the mother then you should keep them with her until 8 weeks of age. The mother will instinctively wean the puppies on her own, but you may need to help her by removing her from the puppies. The puppies can technically be taken away after 6 weeks, but the longer the puppies are with the mother the better because they will learn from their mother.
Yes, although you should carefully watch to make sure the puppies aren't being smothered or crushed. The mother will lay over her puppies when they are newborn to keep them warm.
Because puppies are born with their eyes still shut, they need darkness and/or dim conditions as too-bright light can hurt them. Therefore, the puppies are crawling under blankets etc. seeking darkness.
They need a nice warm clean bed or box with their mom just make sure you keep the box clean with sheets or baby blankets
Type your answer here... well actually dogs do have teeth when they are born
Because the puppies get cold.
They should be kept in a dry ,clean place. Do not take them away from their mother at first. Its not the best idea to keep them outside. They might get too cold, especially if the mother is short-haired.
A mother dog will stay close to the puppy out of instinct to keep it warm. If she accidentally lies down on the puppy or rolls on it, it could kill it. Also, if she is not with them for an extended period of time and they catch a chill, they will die.
Well, if the puppies are very young, you should keep them inside with the right tempreture. If there a bit older and are able to go outside, then consinder taking them for a walk :) but if your one of those people that don't keep a dog in the house, AND dosent have a backyard, then don't have dog ?
Yes. Just as long as you keep the mother with her pups, obviously. It depends on the mother dog. More specifically, on how much she trusts you. Some mother dogs will ignore puppies who have been handled by someone. It's best not to touch or move newborn pups unless it's absolutely necessary.
Excercise caution depending on the breed of the father. Some animals will kill their young if they detect any signs of weakness from birth. However, if you keep the dog away from the puppies, it may become agitated to the point of attacking you or the mother, or anything nearby. In short; let the father with the puppies and the mother, yet be very vigilant and if the father begins showing signs of aggression, separate them immediately.
