Is it normal to have swelling in the face and gum 4 days after a root canal procedure?

The root canal is a dental procedure which is used to repair damaged teeth. Sometimes it takes a few days for recovery, but if you are having serious pain or swelling after root canal treatment, then contact your dentist as soon as possible to schedule next appointment.

When should a crown be put in after a root canal?

In general, you should have this done as soon as possible, especially if it's a posterior (back) tooth like a molar or premolar. A tooth that has had root canal treatment becomes more subject to fracturing.

What can you do if your dentist didn't finish your root canal?

Have it done as soon as possible. Any leftover nerve tissue may become calcified over time and cause future complications with the treatment. Any leftover bacteria will cause infection in the tooth and jaw. i had a partial root canal and had a temporary filling put in it. i waited three months before getting it finished, although you should have it done as soon as you can

If you had a Root Canal approx four months ago Can you still have the permanent crown put on?

Absolutely. In general, it's best to have a tooth that's had root canal therapy, especially a posterior (back) tooth, crowned as soon as possible to avoid having it break or fracture. Failing to do this could result in loss of the tooth.

Is not eating a diet?

Yes. But you shouldn't do it, it is bad for your body. You will lose weight, but it drains your body's energy. As soon as you start eating regularly again, you will gain most of the weight back.

Why does a molar tooth still hurt two months after a root canal and could the nerve still be in the tooth?

Weird, I had this same problem recently. I had a root canal down and a few months later my tooth started hurting again. I was now going to a different dentist and he took out the filling and the previous dentist didn't fill my tooth right and my nerves were swollen so they had to cut the nerves and do a new root canal with a new filling. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. It is unusual that a tooth would hurt two months after a root canal, although it is not impossible. It might be that the restaurantion done on the tooth is too high, not letting the tooth heal correctly. There are always chances that there was an extra canal that wasn't seen by the operator. You can talk to your dentist about that possibility. He might suggest to wait 6 months.

What is the risk of killing a nerve of a tooth that is causing you pain?

I assume you are talking about going to a dentist and having a root canal therapy performed on the tooth. This procedure removes the nerve and blood supply of the tooth. The interior of the tooth is then filled with an inert rubber material called gutta percha. The most common risks associated with a root canal are pain during the procedure that is usually effectively controlled with local anesthetics; pain after the procedure as the healing process begins, usually managed with OTC or prescription pain medication and antibiotics; failure of the root canal therapy, which may require either a second procedure or a surgical procedure called an apicoectomy and retrofill or extraction of the tooth. Assuming that the root canal therapy is successful, most teeth will soon require a crown restoration because the tooth will tend to become brittle and fracture. Having a crown placed prior to the fracture is highly recommended. Sometimes a root canal tooth will turn dark from the inside out. This will become a cosmetic concern if it is a front tooth visible when you smile or talk. Most root canal teeth can last many years, often a lifetime. However, sometimes root canal teeth will fail many years later for no apparent reason. Depending on the specific situation, the root canal may be repeated. For the best information, you should seek out a quality dentist and discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives with him/her.
