How long does a Badminton match last?
There is no strict timeline as to the match has to finish in certain duration of time. However, it is very common for one game of 21 to last for about 15-25 minutes... the total match (of 3 games) lasts about 45 to 75 minutes. I dont know what is the longest duration of any match played in the history, but an hour long match is a typical for a 3 game-long match.
Players get a 1 minute break in each game whenever a leading scorer reaches 11.
There is also a 2 minute break between games 1 and 2 as well as 2 and 3.
Simply, there is no time limit to how long an Olympic badminton game will last. The Olympic committee only counts how much time is used for the game. Therefore, a minimum of 21 points with the player leading by at least two points would win a match with 3 matches; 2 matches wins. However if a badminton is being delayed to the last game match, 15 points is needed only, and whoever reach 15 points…
The size of a typical badminton court varies depending on the amount of people playing. For a singles match, the court is 5.18 meters (or about 17 feet) wide, and 13.4 meters (about 44 feet) long. In a doubles match, the length of the court stays the same, while the width of the court increases to 6.1 meters (20 feet).
Badminton was invented in the 1860s by the daughters of the Duke of Beaufort, based loosely on an ancient game called "battledore and shuttlecock" and using the same equipment. It was named after their dad's summer mansion, Badminton House in Gloucestershire, England, where they first played it. The dimensions of the modem official badminton court, 44 feet long and 17 feet wide, reportedly match those of the room where the young women developed the game.
Of course NOT! Actually it is not good idea to compare different sports, but statistic says that badminton is faster and more intensive. Match duration: tennis about 3 hours, badminton 1 hour. Ball in play: tennis 20 minutes, badminton 40 minutes. Shots: tennis 1000, badminton 2000 Distance covered by athlete: tennis 2 miles, badminton 3.5 miles (note that badminton court 2.5 times smaller so badminton player runs reciprocally more intensive).
