Was the DUI charged as a criminal violation or simply a violation of the traffic statutes? If a criminal charge, it will appear as a permanent part of your criminal record unless you file a petition/motion to have the record 'expunged.' However, if you are referring to your driving record - as a part of your driving history, it will remain as permanent part of your driving record.

According to the main website on DUI information in the US, in Colorado it will remain on your record for life.

It will be taken into account of you are charged for other driving offences in Colorado or any other state in the future.

In most states, it would stay on your record for 5 or 7 years. But Colorado is one of the exceptions, where it will stay until your death.

You may be able to have the DUI lifted or limited to a certain number of years if you successfully enter a plea bargain of reckless driving, a lesser offence than DUI. See a lawyer for information on this.

Driving while under the influence is treated extremely seriously, because you have put lives at extreme danger. Think about it, you're drunk or drugged and in control of a metal weapon travelling at high speeds. You only have yourself to blame.
