If the offense/conviction occurred after your 18th birthday it will always appear on your criminal record. Crimes are not like traffic ticket 'points.' They do not "go away" after a certain length of time.

On your drivers record - forever. Criminal charge - same answer. You can petition the court to have your criminal record 'expunged' but your drivers history is exactly that - your driving history.

Until recently, the idea of installing an elevator in a residential home seemed like a luxury – going hand-in-hand with a butler’s pantry and servants’ quarters. However, that train of thought is quickly changing as our society is seeing more and more elderly and physically challenged homeowners adapting their existing homes to fit their limitations, rather than moving to an accessible residence.

Since home elevators can now be easily installed into pre-built homes, these homeowners can remain in their current houses and avoid the need to move into a single story home. Home elevator installation can also increase the future market value of their home, as the pool of potential buyers is increased by appealing to the older population or those with certain mobility issues.

In addition to tackling the hurdles of a staircase, a home elevator gives these individual the freedom to move easily from floor to floor. This helps to maintain their independence, as they are no longer relegated to a few rooms on the home’s main level. Additionally, a home elevator makes it easier to transport heavy things such as laundry and groceries.

Unlike industrial elevators, home elevators can take up as little space as a closet. This helps keep the costs down as major structural changes are often not necessary. When installed properly, a home elevator requires very little maintenance and will serve its purpose for many years to come. For those homes that are unable to fit a standard home elevator, a modified chair lift can be installed. These lifts attach to a railing installed from the top of the staircase to the bottom. Requiring as little as 14 inches of space, most homes can easily accommodate a chair lift while still leaving the stairway clear for the rest of the family.

Remember though, as with any home improvement project, the finished product is only as good as the work and materials put into it. But installed properly, a home elevator is sure to add value – value to your home and to your life.
