You have to have been born in the United States to run for President, and be at least 35 years old.

Actually, you can be a US citizen and still not have lived in the United States. You have to be an American citizen by birth, (meaning your parents CAN live somewhere else but if they are US citizens you are a US citizen), 35 years old, and lived in the US for 14 consecutive years.

14 years is the is the residency requirement for US President. He or she must have been a resident of the US for fourteen years before taking for office. (He must also be at least 35 years old and a natural born citizen)

But if you are natural born and then move other places for very significant amount of time that limit is 10 years (if you moved to like Africa when you were 8yrs old and such)
