It depends on your body. Usually a few days to a week after u have obtained the infection, you will start to see symptoms. Common symptoms in beginning of urinary tract are, strong, foul smelling urine. Frequent urination. Or burning/uncomfortable when you urinate. If you feel you may have one, start drinking cranberry juice imediatley. I promise it helps. If symptoms persist see a doctor.

If you go to the dr they might give you A shot of antibiotic that might clear it up within a day. If you do go then the UTI infection might last a few weeks. Just be sure to drink plenty of fluids such as water, juice (pineapple, blueberry, etc).

For any infection, it is necessary to get to antibiotics, or else it will just get worse and cause you to become sick. You will probably have to take them for about 10 days. Also, drinks lots of water and cranberry juice. Once you get rid of the infection, I suggest taking AZO pills daily for regular urinary health. Good Luck.
