There isn't much you can do....... after a week or so they will stop hissing. A little while after that they might touch. Basically all they need is time. Keep them separated in the beginning but rub a towel on the kitten and let the cats smell it - this way the cats will get used to the smell of the kitten. Give them treats when they are together in the beginning so they associate the new kitten with getting food - this will hopefully make them accept the kitten more easily.

Some cats need little time to get used with each other whereas some take much longer and others never do - be patient with them and seek and follow the professional advice your veterinarian offers if this issue becomes a problem .

The answer to this question depends on many, many variables.

The first thing to remember here is that the established cat considers your house its territory so bringing a new cat in can be considered encroachment on territorial rights, which, in the cat world, is a no no. That's not to say that they don't enjoy the company of other animals because they often do but bringing a new kitty into a household that already has a well established cat can cause stress to both animals. That is not always the case, as different cats have different personality types, but more often than not, the two (or more) felines will need time to warm up to one another. Cats are funny creatures; it could literally take minutes, hours, weeks or months for your established cat to adjust to its new feline companion and vice versa. Give it time though. The two will at least learn to tolerate one another even if they never become best friends.

When i bought my kitten home, i kept it inside for three/ five days so it could get used to its surroundings. When I let it out for a bit, I rushed straight back in! After 2 or 3 weeks it had properly settled though

I hope this helps!

It is different for every cat. It will probably take longer if that cat has never had kittens before.

How do you switch a cat from eating one brand of food to another?

You introduce the new brand a spoonful at a time with the old cat food for approximately a week tapering off of the old food a very little bit at a time. This goes for both tinned or dry cat foods. This lets the cat's intestinal tract adjust to the new food.

Why does your cat meow incessantly when she is in the car with you?

It depends on where you take the cat in the car. If you take it to the vet, it is going to meow in distress. If you take it to the pet store to get treats and such, its most likely to meow in happiness. Of course, the car and the idea of moving that fast are probably new to the cat, and especially if the cat is being driven in an area where its never or been very few times, its going to meow and yowl with a scared or startled look.

If you have a new 3 year old cat how long do you have to keep it in for until it is allowed to go out?

Should be "forever". A safe cat is an indoor cat. Stays healthier and free from contracting diseases from other feral cats and loose cats.I have a 13 and 15 year old cat and they have been indoor cats. If you want them with you a long time. Enjoy them indoors.

How do you integrate a new cat into the house already having 2 cats?

Go very, very slowly - cats are quite territorial and won't accept any newcomers forced upon them. Start by keeping the new cat in one room with its own litter box and food/water dishes. Let the other cats wander up to the door and get used to the scent of the new cat. This may take a couple of weeks. When the two cats aren't hissing outside the door to where the new cat is, lock up the two cats and let the new cat wander around the house a bit. Put the new cat back into its room then let the other two cats back out; they will investigate the scent of the new cat. Repeat daily until the two cats aren't so interested in figuring out where the new cat went - this may take a couple of weeks or more. When they are all used to the scent of each other, put everyone in cat carriers and let them see each other. You'll eventually work up to letting first the new cat out of the carrier, then letting the two cats out of their carries while the new cat is in its carrier, then letting them all out together. They should be supervised closely until they have all accepted each other.

Take Your Cat On A Lead That Doesn't Extend And Show Your Cat Around And Then Let Your Cat Stay In Your Home For A Few Days. DO NOT LET HIM WANDER AT THIS POINT! After Those Few Days Have Passed, Take Your Cat On A Lead Around The Block And Show It The Place Your Live From Every Angle. Do This For A Few Days. Then You Can Truly Let Your Cat Wander!
