Halley's Comet does not orbit the Earth. There are NO comets that orbit the Earth.

It takes 76 years for Halley's Comet to complete one orbit of the Sun.

How long does it take a comet to orbit the sun with an distance of 1 AU?

The same as the Earth

Were does the comet Halley go after it comes to earth?

Halley's Comet never comes to Earth. The comet - as with all astronomical bodies - follows its own orbit, falling endlessly through the solar system. Halley's Comet is currently a little further from the Sun than the orbit of Neptune, moving very slowly outward from the Sun. It will linger there, reaching the peak of its orbit in about 15 years, before beginning its long slow fall back into the inner solar system.

How many years did it take Hayleys comet to orbit the earth?

Hayley's Comet does not orbit the Earth. It has a long elliptical orbit around the Sun, and gets as far out as the orbits of Neptune and Pluto (35.1 AU) , only to return to the inner solar system every 75-76 years. (Its orbit is perturbed by some planets.) It last reached perihelion (closest to the Sun) in 1986, and it will not return until 2061.

A loose collection of ice and rocky particles with a long narrow orbit?

Comet

When do regular comets occur?

Every comet has its own orbit and its own timing in terms of how long it takes to orbit the sun.

Why does Halley's comet apear every 76 years?

Beacuse that's how long it takes to Orbit the sun And pass the Earth in the process

What does a longer orbit mean?

Having an elliptical orbit means there is a point for each comet where it is a comet's orbit can be changed over many years by gravity, until it is long and thin.

The orbital period of Halley's Comet is about 75.3 years.

How long is one year on Halley's comet?

It takes Halley's Comet 74 to 76 earth years to complete an orbit of the Sun. It can be influenced by passing the large outer planets, so its revolutions are not always the same duration.
