In the summer, it takes about 5 hours and 45 minutes to fly from Seattle to Honolulu and about 5 hours and 35 minutes to fly back. In the winter, the times are a little longer going over and a little shorter coming back. The difference is due to the prevailing westerly winds which are stronger in the winter. These times are called "block times" and they include both the time in the air as well as the time spent on the ground pushing back from the gate, starting engines, and taxiing. To get flight time (time in the air only), you can subtract about 15 to 20 minutes from each leg, depending on the airport. These are seasonal averages and vary daily depending on traffic, weather, individual airline operating procedures, etc.
