Depends where in England to where in France.

London to Paris by Eurostar high speed train takes 2 hours 15 minutes.

Taking your car though the Channel Tunnel, is about 25-35 minutes. Including loading, unloading etc. it is nearer an hour. By ferry it would take 2.5 hours including loading and unloading.

Driving from London to ParisThe full answer, of course, is, 'In What?' - one would need an amphibious vehicle. The car has to go on a train (through the tunnel) or a boat. So, although 213 miles is about right, there are 3 imponderable:

1) getting out of London - this can take 1-3 hours depending on starting point and time of day.

2) getting cross-channel transport. the tunnel is quickest, especially with advance booking; but allow an hour and a half.

3) getting into Paris. Again, 1-3 hours depending on time of day and destination.

If you drive, allow 8 hours.

More Information:

  • Advice? Well, look at it this way. If you live in the UK, consider hiring a left-hand-drive car in France. That way, you can take the train direct from London to Paris and save all the hassle, and be properly equipped for driving in France. If you're only visiting Paris, DON'T TAKE THE CAR. you want a holiday, not a nervous breakdown.

If you come from outside France/UK, definitely hire cars separately for the two countries and do London-Paris by train.

  • It is 213 miles, depending on weather conditions and speed traveling, it can take anywhere from 3 - 5.5 hours.
  • If you can avoid driving in Paris then do it doesn't matter how long it takes to get there from London, you won't get out with your car in one piece.

It depends on where you are going. To Calais, which would be the first stop, is about 1 hour. To Paris, is at least 2 hours and 30 minutes, and can take another 20 minutes, depending on stops etc.

You can't, there's a lot of water in the way. But you can put the car on a ferry and cross in 90 minutes, or on a train and go through the Channel Tunnel in 40 minutes.

Is there a drivable road from England to France?

No. London and Paris are both inland, and while both are connected by rivers to the sea, there are no ferries between the two cities. So you would first have to travel overland to one of the ferry ports in England and the to France and then by land to Paris. You can travel other ways, by air and by train through the Euro Tunnel.
