If a newer car the fuel pump is in the gas tank which means you have to remove the fuel tank. This can be quite a project, I suggest you empty the tank as much as possible since you will be lifting it. Once you remove the gas tank it takes about 10 minutes. A matter of removing about 4 bolts, pull out the old fuel pump replace with new and reinstall the tank. If you are good, maybe an hour or two. If not good I would plan on about 4 hours
I was able to remove and reinstall my fuel pump in my 540i in about an hour.
About 2 hours
you will need to drop gas tank then there is a big nut on the fuel pump turn and take out fuel pump
The fuel pump usually take about an hour and a half if you have the right tools.
Unfortunately, yes.
gotta take it out
You take the old pump off........ then you put the new pump on.
You need to take the fuel tank out from underneath open it up remove the fuel sending unit and remove and replace the attached fuel pump.
Take the gas tank down as the pump is inside the gas tank.
If you know how to work on cars, about 15-20 min. tops. Disconnect the lines, take out the two bolts that hold on the pump, clean off where the fuel pump bolts to the block, install new gasket and pump and lines. Start up and check for leaks. Done
